The Places You’ll Go

In 2006 blogging, more than anything else, has afforded me some incredible opportunities to meet fantastic people and visit some exciting cities. Greg and Jason have started a “city” meme of sorts. What a fun way to look back at a year! Here are my cities of 2006:

And a VERY special thanks to Cat Morley, who was the first person ever to link to my site wayyyyyyyy back in February (gosh, that seems like forever ago). Yes, it's been a very sobering New Years this year for Bangkok. There were a couple of fireworks seen from my balcony, but nothing like the usual.

I do like the idea of blogging cities for 2006, but will wait a day before joining in. I was up until 5am and am now in sore need of a looooooooong beauty rest.

My list is pretty short: Washington DC. I lived there for 6 years, so it was fun to go back, but even more fun was I got to take my family with me (wife and two daughters). For them it was their first time there. They loved it! Good times...

Oh, we did also do a family trip to Denver to see an acquaintance of ours perform in Up With People. That was really fun! Denver's a nice town. We plan to return to see the new art museum.

Hmm, well blogging didn't pay for it, but I had the wonderful privilege of attending the company Christmas party in Chicago. What a blast. What a hangover. I love Chicago.

Blogging hasn't paid for any trips, but I consider it my mental health vacation each time I write. Keeps the mind on the straight and narrow.

Blake - Haha, blogging hasn't really "paid" for it, but rather, has created some incredible opportunities, connections, etc... that otherwise would never (have never) existed for me career-wise. It's made freelancing viable, and introduced me to more cool people (like yourself) than any business development I've attempted in the past.

I followed Mr. Kottke's lead as well and did my own "Year in Cities" post. Nothing outside the US, but my friend/colleague base grew quite a bit from the traveling I did.

Bring on more travel in 2007!
