Wow, okay so I’ll keep this brief as there has already been plenty written and posted on Flickr (20,333 currently) about it. SXSW Interactive - If you didn’t go this year, you need to next year. It was ten times the experience I’d expected. Amazing speakers, amazing parties. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who responded to my Free Coffee at SXSW post. In the end, there were 3 people I was unable to connect with (for more than a brief introduction). I’m sure we’ll run into each other again somewhere, and when we do, I owe you guys some Joe!
In the interests of brevity, I present my summary in Haiku form:
Hot humid Springtime.
The birds here are psychotic;

Umm,Are you trying to say something by cutting off Jason in the pic?

Umm, he had some spinach in his teeth. ![]()
I wholey agree with the birds line of your haiku. I swear birds in Austin don't sleep, but I'm sure none of us did much either.See you next year!

The birds of Austin are part of a scheme by Cobra Commander to inset robotic birds with cameras in their eyes that harp and yap causing people to look up and then God knows what happens next...

That TOTALLY explains it. Thanks Varick! ![]()
This is ALL I heard everytime we walked around town.Varick SWEARS all Austin birds are robots, although he can't explain the extremely convincing amounts of bird sh** strategically placed everywhere.

I've never seen birds quite like the Austin psycho-birds. Their bizarre chirping... gah! I think they're trying to tell me something.....

I did actually end up with spinach in my teeth at one point... luckily someone was kind enough to tell me :DIt was great meeting you Mark!

Mark, I must say that it was great to watch you, at the last minute, switch from our bowling team to that of our sworn enemies, and then have us beat the living snot out of all ya'll. There are some memories that will always bring a wistful tear to my eye, many of which involve one or more middle fingers.Seriously though. It was swell to meet ya, a strapping lad who grew up in the shadow of Fermi Lab and now runs around with a rag-tag group of web misfits. Welcome to our party. Inflation being what it is, I'll be more than willing to forgo the cup of coffee next year in exchange for a couple shots of Jagermeister.
